Is the N95 mask the best mask to use during a fire, air pollution or dust?

Many parts of California experience hazardous air quality due to smoke from seasonal wildfires. There are various types of protective equipment to protect our lungs during such incidents. When you go outside during a fire, you'll see people carrying a variety of dirty air solutions, from shawls and scarves to full-face respirators to the wholesale N95 masks found in most of our stores. The N95 mask provides minimal protection against smoke.

How to choose the best breathing mask?

To keep the lungs safe from fire smoke or other incidents that reduce air quality, here are some tips you can consider when choosing a breathing mask:

First point: Do not use face masks: surgical masks, shawls and scarves or part of clothing. These methods are not enough to protect against toxins in the air. Smoke particles, dirt and other unhealthy substances easily pass through these types of weak masks

Masks that absorb small particles (such as N95 masks) are usually the best option for most people who want to keep their lungs healthy during a fire. Of course, you should get a mask that has a good filtration rate.

N95s are the most common respirators available and are usually enough to meet your needs. A number of 95 means that the mask is able to filter 95% of particles larger than 2.5 microns. Some masks have N99 or even N100 standards. It means that they filter 99% and 99.97% respectively. They may have N99 or even N100, which means they filter 99% and 99.97% respectively. The letter N means that these masks are not resistant to oil.

Some masks are rated R, which means they are oil-resistant, or others are rated P, which means they are oil-resistant. For example, the P100 mask is an anti-oil mask that can filter 99.97% of particles (this number is rounded and called 100). The N95 mask is the best option for most people because if the filtration number goes up, it will make breathing more difficult.

Avoid respirators that are not rated or standardized. We recommend you to choose a mask that creates a complete insulation between the mask and your face. Before using the hair mask, shave your face and use children's masks for children. Masks known as dog masks are also produced for pets such as dogs, so use a dog mask for your dog to insulate its lungs.

Some respirators have a small valve on the side or center of the mask. This valve is responsible for draining your exhaled air. It also causes carbon dioxide, heat and air humidity to be discharged from the inside of the mask.
